Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Lagos in the early hours of Friday following a high-level two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu arrived at about 1:15 a.m. at the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
They were received by top officials, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside members of the All Progressives Congress.
The President is expected to join Muslim faithful later in the day for Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks, marking the end of Ramadan.
In his Sallah message, Tinubu urged Nigerians to uphold the values of piety, empathy, and unity beyond the fasting period, stressing the importance of compassion and perseverance.
Before returning, Tinubu held bilateral talks with Keir Starmer at Downing Street, where both nations agreed on a £746 million deal to modernise key ports in Lagos.
The President described the visit as “very thrilling and significant,” noting that discussions covered trade, economic cooperation, climate change, terrorism, and broader global challenges.
At Windsor Castle, Tinubu and his delegation were hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla during a state banquet that highlighted the enduring ties between both countries.
He emphasised that Nigeria and the United Kingdom share a vision built on mutual respect, partnership, and long-standing historical connections.
The visit — the first by a Nigerian leader to the UK in nearly four decades — also included engagements with the Nigerian diaspora, business leaders, and the signing of multiple agreements spanning trade, defence, energy transition, and cultural cooperation.
