The Federal Government has instructed civil servants working within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja to work remotely on Friday, March 27, 2026, ahead of the national convention of the All Progressives Congress.
The directive was issued through an official circular signed by Abdul Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
According to the notice, all access roads leading to and around the Federal Secretariat Complex—Phases I, II, and III—will be closed from March 27 to March 28, 2026.
The government explained that the restriction is necessary due to the use of Eagle Square as the venue for the APC national convention.
As a result, workers in ministries, extra-ministerial departments, and agencies located within the affected areas, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have been directed to remain off-site during the period.
Authorities also urged heads of ministries and agencies to ensure that staff comply fully with the directive.
The APC convention, scheduled to hold in Abuja, is expected to attract key party stakeholders, delegates, and supporters from across the country. The gathering is considered a significant political event as discussions will shape internal party decisions and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
