Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a letter sent to the PDP Chairman of Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Nwoko provided detailed reasons for his decision.

He revealed that the primary factor behind his defection was the deepening divisions and internal conflicts within the PDP, which he argued had become irreparable. These ongoing fractures, according to Nwoko, made it increasingly difficult to work towards a unified party agenda and serve the collective needs of the people.

In his resignation letter, Nwoko expressed:
“I am resigning from the PDP, a party I have been dedicated to since its inception in 1999. The current state of division within the party has created an environment where meaningful collaboration has become almost impossible. Just recently, on January 29, senior party members were involved in a physical altercation, underscoring the irreconcilable nature of these divisions.”

While Nwoko acknowledged the opportunities the PDP offered him during the 2022/2023 senatorial race, he emphasized that his duty to his constituents was paramount. He recalled the promises he made during his campaign and stated that the party’s internal struggles were preventing him from delivering on those commitments.

“Sadly, the current party structure has made it difficult to carry out the tasks I set for myself and my people,” Nwoko wrote. “After much reflection, I believe the best way to honor my commitment to the people of Delta North is to part ways with the PDP and pursue a path that will allow me to better serve them.”
