Spanish forward Álvaro Negredo has officially hung up his boots, bringing an end to a remarkable career that spanned nearly two decades.

In an emotional video shared on social media, the 39-year-old striker simply wrote, “Thanks, football,” as he symbolically hung his boots on a hook, marking the end of his journey in the sport.

Negredo, known for his clinical finishing and physical presence, played for some of Europe’s top clubs, including Sevilla, Manchester City, and Valencia. His last stint was with Real Valladolid, where he helped the club secure promotion to La Liga before becoming a free agent at the end of the season.

During his time at Manchester City in the 2013-14 season, he lifted both the Premier League and League Cup titles before moving to Valencia on loan. On the international stage, he was part of Spain’s victorious Euro 2012 squad, making two appearances in the tournament.

Negredo also had spells in Turkey with Beşiktaş and in England with Middlesbrough, scoring an impressive 290 goals in 755 club appearances. For Spain, he found the net 10 times in 21 caps.

With a legacy of goals and silverware, Negredo bids farewell to the beautiful game, leaving behind memories of his powerful strikes and decisive performances.
