In a shocking turn of events, over a dozen personnel from the Sam Ethnan Air Force Barracks in Ikeja allegedly stormed the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) office on Thursday morning, assaulting staff and making away with company property.
According to IKEDC spokesperson Kingsley Okotie, the uniformed officers arrived in a truck around 8 a.m., attacking employees and causing widespread damage.
“They came in, started beating our staff, and even took my laptop. Many employees can’t find their phones since they left,” Okotie told Vanguard in a phone interview.
The chaos reportedly stemmed from IKEDC’s decision to disconnect electricity to the Air Force barracks over unpaid bills amounting to more than ₦4 billion.
“They molested and assaulted our staff, took about 16 of our vehicles, forced our drivers to operate them, vandalized our offices, stole laptops and phones, and even disabled our CCTV cameras,” Okotie added.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for immediate action against those involved.
