The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, has called for religious harmony and mutual understanding as he joined Muslim faithful for Iftar (breaking of fast) on Thursday in Abuja.

Okoh attended the Iftar at the Al-Habibiyya Mosque, where he participated in feeding around 2,300 fasting Muslims. Emphasizing the importance of peace and unity, he praised the mosque’s leadership for its efforts in fostering religious tolerance.

“We are essentially the same—Muslims and Christians alike—and we must work together for the progress of our country. To those wondering why the CAN President is in a mosque, I say this: I have come today, and I will come again. We must learn from and understand each other,” Okoh stated.

Sheikh Fuad Adeyemi, the National Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyya Mosque, highlighted that the annual Ramadan feeding programme is aimed at supporting the less privileged, regardless of religious background.

“We focus on what unites us as people. Our goal is to spread kindness and build stronger bonds between different faiths,” Adeyemi said.
