Triangle Travelers, Get Ready: RDU Launches Nonstop Flights to the Bahamas and More!

Big news for Triangle-area travelers—Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is expanding its reach with three exciting new routes! Avelo Airlines has just announced nonstop flights to Nassau, Bahamas, making it the 15th international destination available from RDU. Sun-seekers, pack your bags—this service kicks off on June 11, running seasonally on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

But that’s not all! Avelo is also introducing two new domestic flights, offering nonstop service to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Wilmington, Delaware, starting in May. The Wilmington route (a perfect gateway to the Philadelphia region) takes off on May 22, while Grand Rapids joins the lineup on May 23, both operating twice weekly.

“We are proud to welcome three new destinations to our route map as Avelo grows along with RDU and the Triangle region,” said Michael Landguth, RDU president and CEO. “The addition of Nassau service sets a new record for the number of international cities RDU serves and provides more options than ever before for travel outside the U.S.”

Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy also chimed in, saying, “We continue to inspire travel by growing our service at RDU with these new routes. As the only airline offering nonstop service to these destinations from RDU, we are making it more convenient and affordable for our Triangle-area customers to enjoy 10 popular vacation spots.”

With Avelo’s budget-friendly fares and these brand-new routes, travelers now have more options than ever before. Whether you’re dreaming of Bahamian beaches or looking for a quick getaway to the Midwest or East Coast, RDU has you covered!
