Jordan Torunarigha has been drafted into Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, replacing Nathan Tella, who pulled out due to injury.

Tella, who was benched during Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, was later confirmed unfit by manager Xabi Alonso.

Camp Update: Joshua Torunarigha has been called to replace injured Nathan Tella. We wish Nathan a quick recovery,” the Super Eagles confirmed via their official X account on Thursday.

Torunarigha, 27, makes his return to the national team after last featuring in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers. The Belgian-based defender has earned one cap for Nigeria and will now bolster the Super Eagles’ backline in the crucial qualifiers.
