In a chilling act of violence, the Osun State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist, Segun Ogunfunmilayo, for allegedly shooting a grocery seller in Ede over an unpaid N500 energy drink.

The incident, which took place around 9:00 p.m. on March 8, 2025, in the Bihari/Ishola area of Ede, started as a routine purchase but quickly escalated into a life-threatening altercation. Ogunfunmilayo reportedly bought the energy drink on credit, promising to transfer the money. However, when the seller didn’t receive the payment alert, he approached the suspect—only to be met with gunfire.

According to the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Adeola Adeoye, the suspect allegedly pulled a cut-to-size pistol from his bag and shot the victim in both hands before fleeing the scene.

Police, working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), tracked Ogunfunmilayo to his hideout, where he was arrested. A cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from him. Upon interrogation, he confessed to being a member of the Alora cult group.

The suspect is now in custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
