While details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the timing raises eyebrows as it happened just before President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. The declaration led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and state lawmakers for an initial six months.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has been embroiled in a long-running political feud with Fubara, his successor. Akpabio’s visit to Wike at such a crucial moment adds another layer of intrigue to the unfolding political drama.
