A female Nigerian Navy officer, Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, along with two others, has been kidnapped by gunmen in the Mpape area of Abuja. The officer, who is attached to the Defence Headquarters, was taken on Friday night in a shocking abduction that has left residents on edge.
Sources confirm that the kidnappers have already reached out to the victims’ families, demanding a hefty ransom of N100 million for their release. Despite the growing concern, the FCT Police have remained tight-lipped about the incident.
Meanwhile, security forces, including the Navy, Defence Headquarters, and Police, have launched a manhunt for the abductors and a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.
As of now, neither Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, nor Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, has made any official statements on the situation.
The silence from security agencies has only fueled anxiety as Nigerians demand urgent action to combat the rising wave of kidnappings in the nation’s capital.
