In a high-stakes rescue mission, Nigerian security forces have successfully freed Gil Itamar, an Israeli national abducted by gunmen in Takum, Taraba State.
Itamar, an employee of SCC, was kidnapped on Thursday morning while traveling along the Takum–Chanchanji road, despite being under military escort. His abduction triggered a swift response from a joint team of police, military, and local hunters.
The operation reached a climax at Kofai Ahmadu, where security forces engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to flee.
Confirming the rescue, ASP James Saminu, spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, revealed that Itamar was safely recovered and is now receiving medical care. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing kidnappers.
