Tinubu Sends Relief: Palliatives Distributed to Christians, Muslims in South-East, South-South

In a bid to ease the economic hardship affecting Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu has donated palliatives to Christian and Muslim faithful across the South-East and South-South regions, ensuring support during their fasting periods.

The relief items, unveiled in Owerri on Friday by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma on behalf of the president, include two trailer loads of rice (1,200 bags) and cartons of noodles for each state. Additionally, Tinubu approved ₦5 million per state to cover transportation and distribution costs.

Speaking on the initiative, the president emphasized the spiritual significance of charity, stating that while his administration is working on long-term solutions to economic challenges, this intervention aims to provide immediate relief.

“As we work towards permanent solutions to food insecurity and high living costs, this gesture is to help bridge the gap until harvest periods,” Tinubu said.

Governor Uzodimma called on religious communities to pray for Nigeria’s progress, urging them to support the president’s agenda and ensure the aid reaches those in need.

Religious leaders across the 11 states expressed gratitude for the support but also urged the government to focus on long-term economic stability. Imo’s CAN Chairman, Rev. Divine Eches, prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the president while commending Uzodimma’s efforts in the state’s development.
