Tragedy in Toledo: Missing 13-Year-Old Keimani Latigue Found Dead, Father Wanted for Murder

Toledo, Ohio—A heartbreaking and chilling twist has emerged in the search for missing 13-year-old Keimani Latigue, as Toledo police confirmed Monday that the body found in a long-abandoned, burned-out house on Miami Street belongs to the young girl. A murder warrant has now been issued for her father, Darnell Jones, 33, who remains on the run.

For nearly a week, family, friends, and volunteers combed the streets of Toledo, desperately hoping for Keimani’s safe return. But hope turned to horror when authorities pulled a body from the charred ruins of a house that had been destroyed by fire almost three years ago. Her mother, Tiara Kasten, stood amidst a growing and emotionally charged crowd, pleading for answers and confirmation of her worst fear.

“Bring my baby,” Ms. Kasten cried out as she watched the coroner’s office remove what was believed to be her daughter. A scene of grief and outrage unfolded as Toledo residents gathered, some in solemn silence, others vocal in their anger, demanding justice.

Jones, who also goes by the name Darnell Ogletree, was the last person seen with Keimani before her disappearance. Initially charged with abduction, he allegedly gave police inconsistent statements about his whereabouts and interactions with his daughter. His location remains unknown, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to his arrest.

Keimani’s grandmother, Dorothy Latigue, first reported her missing last Tuesday after she failed to show up for school. Calls to the teen’s phone went straight to voicemail, an ominous sign that something was terribly wrong. Described as a responsible and predictable child, her sudden vanishing sparked immediate concern.

Now, the search for answers shifts to the hunt for a fugitive father accused of the unthinkable. Was this a premeditated act? A moment of uncontrolled rage? Or is there an even darker story yet to unfold? As the community reels from this devastating loss, one thing is certain—Toledo demands justice for Keimani.
