The DSS’s arrest of arms supplier Plateau has brought another major victory to Nigeria’s security agencies. The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended Musa Abubakar, a major arms trafficker suspected of links to armed groups in Plateau State and other northern areas. DSS agents arrested him on November 12, 2025, following specific information.
The suspect admitted to manufacturing and distributing large caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks. The DSS tracked his activities and carried out a targeted raid on his weapons workshop in Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
During the operation, agents seized improvised explosive device (IED) components, chemicals and equipment. The DSS confirmed that the confiscated items could have fueled further attacks if nothing was done to control them.
The arrest follows the recent capture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, an escapee from Kuje Prison who masterminded the attacks in Owo and Deeperlife Church. These successes show that the DSS is actively monitoring and neutralizing threats across Nigeria.
Earlier, the DSS arrested nine high-profile suspects linked to attacks in Plateau and Benue states. One of them, Timna Manjol, 46, of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, Plateau State, pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal possession of firearms in Federal High Court case FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025. These operations demonstrate the agency’s commitment to dismantling violent networks.
The arrest of Musa Abubakar sends a clear message to arms traffickers. DSS will continue to pursue individuals and groups that provide weapons to criminal and terrorist organizations.
