The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has declared that it is firmly positioned to win the August 8 governorship election, expressing strong confidence in the party’s growing popularity and organisational strength across the state.

A senior party figure, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the current political climate, combined with recent nationwide reforms under President Bola Tinubu, has created a favourable atmosphere for the APC’s return to power in Osun.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye stated that the administration’s economic and governance policies have begun to rebuild public trust in the ruling party, leading to renewed grassroots support and rising defections from opposition camps.

He explained that the performance of APC-led governments at both federal and state levels has strengthened voter confidence, while the track record of the party’s previous administration in Osun continues to resonate positively with residents.

According to him, the decision of five federal lawmakers from the state to defect from opposition parties into the APC reflects a wider political shift and signals what he described as an approaching victory for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

“The movement of these lawmakers into our party clearly shows that the political tide has turned. It proves that the people of Osun are reconnecting with the APC and are ready to entrust governance back into our hands,” he said.

Oyintiloye maintained that the APC candidate possesses the competence, experience, and character required to deliver responsive leadership and inclusive development, adding that the campaign is centred on practical solutions rather than political rhetoric.

He also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, for sustaining the party’s unity and operational strength despite being out of office.

According to him, continuous grassroots engagement, internal reconciliation, and strategic mobilisation have helped the APC maintain a strong presence in every local government area, while also accommodating new members without internal friction.

Oyintiloye urged residents to ignore what he described as misinformation campaigns designed to distract voters, assuring that the APC remains focused on offering credible leadership and long-term development for the state.

“Our goal is simple — to rescue Osun, stabilise its economy, restore public confidence in governance, and reposition the state for sustainable growth. We are confident the electorate understands this mission,” he said.

He further encouraged members of other political parties who believe in progressive governance to align with the APC, stressing that the party remains open, inclusive, and capable of integrating new entrants into its political structure.
