A Rangers fan who traveled to Istanbul to support his team in their Europa League clash against Fenerbahce tragically lost his life in a road accident just hours before the match.

The unnamed supporter was struck by a vehicle in the Besiktas district before dawn on Thursday, according to reports. Traffic camera footage from Turkish media showed a pedestrian running across a busy street before being hit.

Authorities have taken the driver and another individual to court in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the British embassy has confirmed that consular support is being provided to the fan’s family.
