Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to visit South Africa on April 10 as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure a peace process in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Presidency spokesman Vincent Magwenya confirmed the visit, stating that it aligns with South Africa’s commitment to facilitating an inclusive dialogue.
The announcement comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa invited Zelensky for discussions, following backlash against peace talks involving Russia and the U.S. that excluded Ukraine and its European allies.
“South Africa remains committed to supporting the dialogue process between Russia and Ukraine,” Ramaphosa posted on X.
Both leaders agree on the urgency of an all-inclusive peace process, with Zelensky expressing gratitude for South Africa’s backing of Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“It is important that our countries share the same position: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.
His visit is expected to focus on diplomatic strategies, international mediation, and strengthening Ukraine-South Africa relations.
