KANO — In a bold move to restore peace and curb crime, the Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 53 suspected thugs and drug dealers in a massive raid across the state.

The committee’s chairman, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim, confirmed the arrests on Saturday, stating that the operation targeted notorious hideouts in areas such as Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’in, and Dan Agundi.

According to Ibrahim, the intelligence-led raid, conducted between March 13 and 14, uncovered large quantities of illicit drugs, including cannabis sativa, codeine syrup, and other banned substances. Security operatives also seized a delivery vehicle and five cattle suspected to belong to a known drug dealer.

Weapons such as cutlasses, clubs, and suspected charms were also recovered from the suspects.

“The success of this operation marks a significant step in the fight against thuggery and drug abuse in Kano,” Ibrahim stated. “All arrested individuals will be charged to court after investigations are completed.”

The task force, which includes security agencies and government officials, reaffirmed its commitment to making Kano a safer and drug-free state.
