The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Leaders Worldwide is calling for the immediate release of Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, President of the Afenifere National Youths Council, who was abducted in Abuja on Monday, February 17, 2025.
In a statement signed by Akeem Adeleke, the coalition’s National Secretary, the group expressed grave concern over the abduction, condemning it as a serious threat to the country’s security and stability. The coalition revealed that Ojajuni had been shot in the buttock during the kidnapping, and the kidnappers are demanding a ₦100 million ransom for his release.
“We strongly condemn this act of lawlessness and call on the Nigerian government, security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to act swiftly to secure Prince Ojajuni’s release,” the statement read. The coalition also highlighted Ojajuni’s dedication to the progress of Yoruba youth and the Nigerian nation, emphasizing that he has been a committed leader throughout his life.
Additionally, the group urged Yoruba community leaders, traditional rulers, and the general public to rally together and push for Ojajuni’s safe return, vowing not to rest until he is freed.
The Afenifere National Youths Council also confirmed the abduction in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Abiodun Aderohunmu. Aderohunmu disclosed that Ojajuni had been shot twice before being taken by the kidnappers.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the ongoing efforts to rescue him.
