Nigerian-American basketball star Gabe Vincent has been elected as Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), joining an elite leadership group that includes New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns. The announcement was made during the NBA All-Star Weekend, marking a significant milestone in Vincent’s career both on and off the court.

Vincent, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and represents Nigeria’s D’Tigers, expressed his gratitude and commitment to the role, emphasizing his passion for understanding the league and making a difference for fellow players.

“The Players Association is something I’ve been interested in for a while,” Vincent shared after Lakers practice. “I’ve attended as many meetings as possible, trying to learn more about the league and the impact players can have. I’m honored to have been voted in, and I look forward to making a positive impact.”

The NBPA executive committee, led by former NBA star Andre Iguodala as Executive Director, includes key figures like Jaylen Brown, Garrett Temple, and C.J. McCollum. As VP, Vincent will play a crucial role in advocating for players’ rights, addressing league concerns, and shaping policies that affect athletes across the NBA.

Beyond his leadership role, Vincent has been finding his rhythm with the Lakers, delivering some of his best performances in recent weeks. Despite early struggles, he never lost confidence in his game.

“There’s a lot of noise in this league, around this organization, but I’ve shot a basketball my entire life—that’s the last thing I’ll lose confidence in,” he said.

With his growing influence both on and off the court, Vincent is proving to be a leader in every sense—one who’s ready to inspire change while continuing to elevate his game.
