Nollywood star Omoni Oboli is calling out Ghanaian TV stations for what she describes as blatant copyright theft, after her film Twin Deception was allegedly aired without permission just hours after it debuted on her official YouTube channel.

Taking to Instagram with a heartfelt but firm message, the actress and filmmaker expressed her deep disappointment, stating that this isn’t just about a movie—it’s about respect for creative work and international copyright laws.

“I love my Ghanaian besties. Ghanaians are our cousins. But cousins don’t steal from each other,” Omoni wrote. “This is not promotion. This is theft. Full stop.”

According to her, Twin Deception premiered on YouTube on a Friday—and shockingly, it was broadcast on terrestrial Ghanaian TV stations the very same day, without any licensing or prior approval.

“I was having a chilled birthday at home when I found out,” she revealed. “I’ve tried to work behind the scenes to stop this, but clearly some people don’t get it. Ripping off my YouTube content and airing it for your gain? That’s a crime.”

With years of cross-border collaboration and cultural camaraderie between Nigeria and Ghana, Omoni didn’t hold back on how hurtful the violation feels. Yet, she made it clear this isn’t about animosity—it’s about justice.

She’s now threatening to escalate the matter to the President of Ghana, calling the situation “an international embarrassment” that needs to be addressed at the highest level.

“Dear Mr. President @officialjdmahama, with all due respect, it’s time to weigh in,” she pleaded. “This has gone too far.”

Despite her frustration, Omoni ended her post with a reminder of love and unity, stressing that she still holds Ghana and its people close to her heart.

“Let’s keep the love flowing,” she concluded, “but let’s also do the right thing.”
