Akwanga, Nasarawa State — The rich tapestry of Tiv heritage took center stage in Akwanga South as the community held a colourful Cultural Day celebration, drawing notable dignitaries including Dr. Best Barau Nuhu, Provost of the College of Education, Akwanga (COEA).
Dr. Nuhu, who graced the event with his presence, joined the festive gathering that featured vibrant traditional dances, music, attire, and other cultural displays that reflect the depth and pride of the Tiv people.
Speaking at the event, the COEA Provost lauded the Tiv community for upholding their cultural values, describing culture as a vital tool for unity, development, and community strength. He called on the people not only to celebrate their identity but also to use it as a bridge for peace and understanding among neighbouring communities.
“Culture is not just what we inherit; it’s what we use to shape our future. Preserving our traditions while living in unity is a legacy we must pass to future generations,” Dr. Nuhu emphasized.
His presence at the occasion was widely appreciated and seen as a boost to the ongoing efforts to foster harmony and inclusiveness in the diverse landscape of Akwanga South.
