Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed he will have a crucial face-to-face meeting with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning before deciding whether the Egyptian star will feature in this season’s Premier League match against Brighton.

The tension follows Salah’s explosive comments last week, in which he accused Liverpool of “putting him on his back foot” after he was benched for three consecutive league matches, including a dramatic 3-3 draw with Leeds.

The 33-year-old striker, who missed Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League match against Inter Milan, later shared a cryptic gym photo from Liverpool’s training ground, fueling speculation of a deeper rift between him and Slot.

Before the Brighton match, Slot refused to be drawn into the media war.

“I’ll speak to Mo this morning. The outcome will determine how things look tomorrow,” Slot said during a press conference.

He added that any further comments should be directed directly to Salah himself, not through the media.

Salah’s frustration reportedly intensified following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland earlier this month, in which he was again substituted. Slot confirmed that numerous discussions had taken place between the club and Salah’s representatives.

Despite the drama, Slot suggested he still wanted the Egyptian superstar to remain at the club.

“I have no reason why I wouldn’t want him to stay,” he said.

Salah is expected to join Egypt’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations immediately after the match against Brighton a tournament he considers a priority for his country.

The Liverpool legend, the club’s third-highest all-time scorer, has struggled to find his stride this season, scoring just four goals in 13 Premier League matches. The Reds, who won their 20th Premier League title last season, now sit in 10th place after a disappointing run.

While fans eagerly await, all eyes are on Friday morning for a crucial clash that could determine Salah’s immediate future at the club, and perhaps even change Liverpool’s season.
