Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, has been deservedly honoured with the prestigious *Champion of Grassroots Women’s Development Award* by the Alia Generation Women World Wide. The recognition celebrates his unwavering commitment to empowering women, strengthening their economic capacity, and promoting inclusive development across Ado LGA.

The award was presented on 20th February 2026 at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Benue State, during a colourful ceremony that also marked the official launch of the Alia Generation Women World Wide uniforms. The event drew distinguished personalities, including the Executive Governor of Benue State, *Hyacinth Alia (Ph.D.)*, who was represented by the Speaker of the Benue 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga Berger.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, who was represented at the event by Pastor Aboh Okibe, expressed profound gratitude to the Alia Generation Women World Wide for finding him worthy of such honour. He humbly dedicated the award to the resilient and industrious women of Ado LGA, whom he described as the backbone of the local economy and pillars of community stability. He reaffirmed his administration’s firm resolve to continue initiating policies and programmes that uplift women socially and economically.

The Convener of Alia Generation Women World Wide, Hon. Mrs. Jane Atsegha, applauded the Chairman’s visionary leadership and people-oriented governance, noting that the award stands as a testament to his sincerity, accessibility, and consistent support for women-focused initiatives at the grassroots.

Speaking further in an interview with Benue Digest News, the Chairman reiterated his readiness to deepen collaboration with women groups, development partners, and critical stakeholders to advance sustainable empowerment programmes within Ado Local Government.

 

The ceremony was richly adorned with cultural performances from Alia Generation Women across various LGAs, alongside presentations by the Igbo and Hausa communities, as well as musical renditions by Alia Performing Musicians led by Queen Bridget. Other notable honourees at the event included Governor Hyacinth Alia (Ph.D.), Engr. Dr. Chief Sylvanus Ghasarah, and Hon. Mrs. Scholastic Ben-Sor; further underscoring the growing recognition of transformative leadership and grassroots development in Benue State.
