A Federal High Court has granted bail to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in an ongoing corruption case instituted against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday, with political commentator Imran Wakili confirming in a post on X that the court had approved the bail application. Wakili stated that the former governor had been granted bail by the Federal High Court.
El-Rufai, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had been in the custody of the ICPC over allegations of corrupt practices linked to his time in office.
He is currently standing trial on charges related to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office, which he has denied.
Details of the bail conditions were not immediately disclosed, and further information on the ruling is expected to emerge as proceedings continue.
The case forms part of a broader legal process involving multiple charges filed by the ICPC, with court proceedings still ongoing.
