Herdsmen Kill 20 in Two Days of Attacks in Benue Community, NYSC Members Raise Alarm

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Jato Aka Turan, a community in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, have urgently called for security intervention after a series of attacks by herdsmen. Over the course of just two days, between Sunday and Tuesday, the assailants killed at least 20 people and injured many others, leaving the community in a state of chaos and fear.

The corps members, who spoke to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, expressed their concerns over the security situation, noting that Jato Aka Turan, located near a Nigerian Army base, has been a target for frequent attacks. They described how they often witness armed men and motorcycles passing through the area in broad daylight, further heightening their sense of danger.
