Real Betis winger Antony will be available for Saturday’s La Liga showdown against Real Madrid after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) overturned his controversial red card.
The Brazilian, on loan from Manchester United, was sent off in Betis’ 2-1 victory over Getafe last weekend following a challenge on Juan Iglesias. However, the RFEF disciplinary committee ruled that Antony was attempting to play the ball, leading to the dismissal being revoked.
Since arriving in Seville during the January transfer window, Antony has made an instant impact, scoring three goals in six appearances across all competitions.
The 25-year-old, who struggled to hit top form at Manchester United after his high-profile £81.3 million ($101.5M) move from Ajax in 2022, now has a fresh opportunity to prove himself in La Liga.
Betis, currently seventh and chasing European qualification, will need all the firepower they can get against second-placed Real Madrid, who are level on points with Barcelona in the title race.
