Heightened Security as APC NEC Meeting Kicks Off in Abuja

Security is on high alert around Blantyre Street and its surrounding areas in Wuse 2, Abuja, as top political figures arrive for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among those expected at the high-stakes gathering are President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. The meeting is set to commence at 11 a.m.

Access to the area has been heavily restricted, with tight controls on both vehicular and pedestrian movement. Only a select group of journalists have been cleared to cover the opening session.

Dignitaries already in attendance include Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, members of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), the Forum of State Chairmen, former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and former Kebbi State Governor and current Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
