The people of Kogi Central are doubling down on their efforts to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, rejecting claims that the process is politically motivated.

In a statement on Thursday, the Kogi Central Elites Forum (KCEF), led by President Ibrahim Abdulazeez Ibrahim and Secretary Prince Akerejola Johnson, declared that the recall reflects the true will of the people, not a scheme by political opponents.

The group accused the senator of causing “national and international embarrassment” to the district, citing her recent clash over a Senate seat as an example of reckless conduct.

“No one is sponsoring this recall. Our people are largely united on this cause. Even those who once supported her on social media have distanced themselves. We cannot trade our integrity for the selfish, juvenile tendencies of a senator,” the statement read.

Clarifying the process, KCEF stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not yet involved, as the recall is still in the signature collection phase. “Once we meet the required threshold, we will submit it for verification,” they added.

The controversy surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan escalated after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment—an allegation critics claim was politically driven.

The group insists the recall is about restoring Kogi Central’s credibility. “The Senate is not a platform for social media drama. It’s time for serious representation,” they said.
