The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep gratitude to the University of Calabar (Unical) for conferring upon him an honorary Doctor of Law degree, stating that the institution has permanently inscribed his name in its golden records.
Speaking at the university’s 37th Convocation and 50th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, Wike described the recognition as both an honor and a call to greater responsibility in the service of education, governance, and national development.
“I am truly honored by this recognition. The University of Calabar has etched my name in its golden records, and I accept this award with great responsibility,” Wike said.
He emphasized that the award serves as motivation to further contribute to the progress of education and good governance.
“This is not just an accolade but a challenge to remain committed to the ideals of excellence and to inspire the next generation of leaders,” he added.
The FCT Minister also commended President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership, highlighting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its significant impact on the transformation of Nigeria’s tertiary education landscape.
