Popular Nigerian businessman and nightlife mogul, Obi Cubana, has subtly but clearly declared his biological son, Alex, as his official next of kin—following a viral TikTok post by his adopted son, Chidi, that sparked massive reactions online.

Chidi had playfully shared a TikTok video with the caption:

“Nothing do my shoulder, I just realise say I be next of kin.”

While many saw it as a harmless joke, Obi Cubana appeared to respond with a photo of his biological son Alex on Instagram, captioned:

“Ancient and modern, eyes on the ball. @dtwalx aka next of kin.”

He doubled down in the comment section of another post, writing:

“Correct boy, original next-of-kin.”

This public declaration didn’t go unnoticed and quickly stirred online conversations. While some followers applauded the businessman for setting the record straight, others criticized him for handling what seemed like a family issue so openly.

On X (formerly Twitter), one user @Abazwhyllzz reacted:

“Unnecessary. He should have told the guy to delete on TikTok, then solved it internally instead of coming to post sha. I be poor man make I mind my business.”

Another user @Soyecatherings added:

“I don’t think he thought of the consequences in the long run. This wasn’t the best way to address it sha. But even thinking about being the next of kin now simply means Obi has to be unalive or old enough to not be able to run things.”

Meanwhile, others defended Chidi, calling the post innocent and overblown.

Despite the online drama, neither Obi Cubana nor Chidi has issued a formal statement beyond the social media posts. It remains unclear whether this was truly a misunderstanding or a sign of deeper family tensions—but one thing’s for sure: the internet has picked its sides.
