Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has sharply criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), branding it as a “one-man show” with no real political structure.
In an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, George addressed the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, stating that the APC lacks the depth needed for genuine governance. “The APC has no structure; it’s just a one-man show,” he declared, emphasizing that any new political force must put the needs of the people above individual ambitions.
According to George, true leadership must focus on managing the nation’s resources for the greater good. He warned against personal ambitions dominating the political scene, calling such an approach “a very dangerous, stupid way of problem-solving.” Instead, he called for a shift toward a people-centered politics that prioritizes governance over personal gain. “Power should come from the people,” he added.
On the possibility of a third political force emerging, such as the Social Democratic Party (SDP), George underscored the importance of rethinking the nation’s political priorities. “What should come first is the people,” he said.
Addressing internal issues within the PDP, George expressed optimism that the party would resolve its ongoing crisis during its next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. He acknowledged the internal strife, describing it as an issue that started small but had now grown out of control due to the ambitions of individuals. “It started like a little sore, now it’s almost like a cancer,” he explained.
However, he remains hopeful that the upcoming NEC meeting will bring clarity and a unified direction for the party. “We will fight, discuss, and debate, but in the end, we will come to a unanimous decision,” George said, stressing that those who disagree with the party’s core principles would be welcome to leave. “If we don’t resolve this, that’s the end,” he warned, urging the PDP to act decisively to prevent further division.
With both parties facing critical moments, the 2027 elections could shape up to be a battle for Nigeria’s political soul.
