In a bold Instagram video, Portable declared, “I’m not fighting Speed Darlington anymore; I want Anthony Joshua, but I’ll need N100 million.” He criticized Speed Darlington for using the proposed bout as a promotional stunt for his upcoming show, and claimed that he’s far more influential than Darlington, who recently gained attention after being released from Kuje Prison.

Portable’s announcement comes just days after Speed Darlington had been seen preparing for the match, even sharing a video of himself purchasing a coffin before hitting the gym, possibly as a playful jab at Portable. The match, initially scheduled for April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos, now seems unlikely to happen as Portable’s unexpected twist has thrown a wrench in the plans.
