Anambra Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a stern warning to native doctors engaging in ritual practices that pollute the state’s streams and rivers.

Speaking to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) supporters in Awka, Soludo expressed concern over the dangerous impact of these rituals on public water sources, which many residents depend on for drinking, cooking, and other household needs. He urged the community to support the state’s efforts in curbing criminal activities and to be mindful of the environment.

He advised traditional practitioners to conduct their rituals in contained spaces, like buckets, instead of polluting vital water bodies. Soludo emphasized the serious health risks posed by contaminated water, which can lead to illness.

The governor clarified that his administration is not targeting traditional religious practices but is taking action against criminal native doctors who exploit people, particularly young individuals, with fraudulent promises of wealth.

Soludo also warned against the increasing number of deceptive native doctors who lure vulnerable youth into illegal activities, such as drug trafficking. He highlighted the tragedy of Anambra youth being incarcerated overseas after falling victim to these scams.
