Nigerian Teen Accepted Into 6 Ivy League Schools, Including Harvard and Yale

Eighteen-year-old Osariemen Unuigbe, a Nigerian-American student, has been offered admission to six Ivy League universities in the United States, including Harvard and Yale.

Osariemen is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants from Edo State. Her parents, Dr. Augustine Unuigbe and Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Unuigbe, are incredibly proud of her achievement.

“We are elated, surprised, but absolutely delighted. We can only give all the glory to God for this great miracle,” the family said.

A Bright and Hardworking Student

Osariemen is currently a senior at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey. She has an outstanding academic record and is known for her dedication and hard work.

She was also accepted into the Governor’s School of New Jersey, a selective program for top-performing students. Additionally, Osariemen has held several leadership positions at school.

Outside of academics, Osariemen enjoys lacrosse, dancing, painting, and drawing.

In recognition of her achievements, she was recently named a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern New Jersey Chapter.

A Win for Nigerian Students Abroad

Osariemen’s story serves as an inspiration to many young Nigerians, especially those who dream of studying abroad.

According to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, more than 20,000 Nigerian students are now enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities. This marks a 13.5% increase from the previous year.

The report also notes that Nigerian students bring a wealth of diversity, perspective, and academic excellence to U.S. campuses.
