A quiet Tuesday morning turned bloody in Achị, a community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, as unknown gunmen launched a deadly attack that left four people dead — three police officers and a civilian.

The brutal assault occurred near the busy Ozudaa Market, where the victims were stationed at a police checkpoint. The attackers not only killed the officers but also set their operational vehicle ablaze before fleeing the scene.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as terrifying. “It happened so fast. There was gunfire, then fire. People ran for their lives,” said Daniel, a resident of Achị. Another local, Maxwell, confirmed the deaths and identified the civilian as a well-known young man from the area.

A chilling video of the aftermath, now circulating widely on social media, shows the lifeless bodies of the officers lying beside the road.

As of now, the Enugu State Police Command has not officially commented on the attack, and details about the identity and motive of the gunmen remain unclear. Locals are speculating whether the assailants approached from the Awgu or Oji end of the road, but no confirmation has been made.
