Netflix’s reigning queen of creepy is back, and she’s bringing even more mystery, mayhem, and macabre family drama with her.
The streaming giant has officially dropped the first full trailer for Wednesday Season 2—teasing fresh chaos at Nevermore Academy, new faces with curious agendas, and a double-release schedule that’s sure to keep fans buzzing. Part one premieres August 6, and part two lands on September 3.
This season, Jenna Ortega reprises her role as the iconic Wednesday Addams, returning to Nevermore under the watchful eye of a very peculiar new principal—Barry Dort, played by none other than Steve Buscemi. Expect quirky authority and eerie secrets from the “mysterious figure” who has a deep love for the school… and maybe a few skeletons in the closet.
Also entering the Addamsverse is legendary actress Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump, Wednesday’s eccentric, wig-loving grandmother and closest ally. Show creator Miles Millar called Lumley’s performance “perfect and hilarious,” while Lumley herself described the set vibe as “intoxicating.”
Another surprise? Wednesday’s little brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), is now a student at Nevermore, adding another layer of chaos. Described by Tim Burton as an “outcast among outcasts,” Pugsley’s presence promises family drama, especially with mom and dad Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán) spending more time on campus—something Wednesday sarcastically calls “a rare new form of torture.”
The new trailer opens with peak Wednesday: her cool detachment on full display as she unloads weapons—and Thing, the iconic disembodied hand—at airport security, only to be stopped over… sunblock. Ortega calls the role “so much fun,” adding that playing someone “so much more intelligent than you will ever be” is “funny and strange and enjoyable.”
If the first season made Wednesday the most-watched Netflix show of all time, Season 2 is aiming to dig even deeper. With nods to “murder and mayhem” and hints of a possible cameo from Lady Gaga (whose recent album is literally titled Chromatica Ball: Mayhem), the season is clearly ready to level up the weird.
As Wednesday herself quips:
“Wherever there’s murder and mayhem, you’ll always find an Addams.”
And with that, all eyes are back on Nevermore.
