Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has set the record straight on a rumor that caught him completely off guard: that he is gay.

In a candid interview, Arukwe revealed that the speculation “shocked him to his bones” — not because he’s ashamed, but because it came out of nowhere and even named a supposed boyfriend, which he found both surprising and hilarious.

“That rumour really stunned me,” Arukwe said. “But at the same time, I took it as a weird compliment. People say when such rumors start flying, it means you’ve ‘blown’ — that you’re making waves.”

Arukwe was quick to clarify that while he’s not gay, he has nothing but love and respect for the LGBTQ+ community.

“I love my gay friends,” he said proudly. “They’re my people, both male and female. I care about them deeply and I’ll never deny that. But I won’t pretend to be something I’m not either. That’s just not who I am.”

He went further to say that if he were gay, he’d embrace it openly.

“If it was my truth, I’d own it with my full chest,” he added. “I’d be one of the hottest in the game. But that’s not the case. Still, I’ll always support and stand by my friends no matter what.”
