Tension has gripped Plateau State following the abduction of Hon. Jacob Laven, the member representing Pankshin South in the Plateau State House of Assembly. The lawmaker was kidnapped on Monday evening at his residence in Anguwan Kagji, Dong community, Jos North LGA.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when three masked gunmen ambushed him at the gate while he waited for his security aide to open it. The attackers whisked him away to an unknown location. A family source confirmed that the kidnappers have already demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for his release.

The community has been thrown into panic, as this latest abduction comes barely two weeks after a NYSC member and a University of Jos student were also kidnapped in the same area. Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
