The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has provided a new update on the ongoing rehabilitation of the country’s three major refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.
According to the company, the next stage of the project involves selecting competent technical partners and finalising necessary agreements to advance the repair and upgrade of the facilities.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bayo Ojulari, shared the update in a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.
It will be recalled that the refineries have been shut down since May 2025 to allow for comprehensive technical assessments and review processes.
Ojulari expressed confidence that the company is making steady progress toward restoring the refineries to full operational capacity.
“We are filled with determination and optimism to ensure that our refineries operate effectively,” he stated. “We are dedicating significant time to detailed reviews and are eager to implement the insights gained.”
He further emphasised that the NNPCL’s commitment is driven by a deep sense of national responsibility rather than personal interest.
“Our motivation is rooted in the belief that the prosperity of Nigeria and its states must always come before any individual ambition. This commitment keeps us focused as we work to deliver sustainable solutions for our refineries,” Ojulari added.
The NNPCL boss assured Nigerians that the company remains resolute in its mission to revitalise the nation’s refineries, which are expected to play a key role in achieving energy self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imported petroleum products.
