Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a wanted drug suspect, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, popularly known as Chisco Bee, during a raid in the Isolo area of Lagos State.
Ibemesi, 42, who also serves as the Managing Director of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd., was picked up at his Daisy Garden Hotel located on Agbeke Street, Ago Palace Way, in the early hours of Saturday, November 15.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, noting that the operation followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering on Ibemesi’s alleged drug trafficking activities.
During the raid, operatives recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of *Loud*, a potent variant of cannabis, weighing 1,762.8 kilograms. They also confiscated foreign currency found in his possession, including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.
In a separate operation, the NDLEA foiled an attempt by a drug syndicate to distribute more than 11,000 kilograms of processed skunk from the Orita-Apeje and Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State. The raid, conducted on Tuesday, November 11, led to the seizure of two trucks — a Volvo (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes (AWK 713 YZ) — used for transporting the drugs.
Seven suspects were arrested in connection with the Osun operation. They were identified as Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, Victor Ngbikili, Sunday Oduegwu, Ibrahim Akanni, Eze Godstime and Fred Ifeanyichukwu.
