At Least 30 Killed in Fresh Attack on Kaduna Community

At least 30 people were killed and several others injured after armed men attacked Naridon village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, residents said.

The attack reportedly occurred late on Sunday night, with the assailants opening fire on residents and setting houses ablaze. Dogon Rana, secretary to the village head, said eight children were among those killed, while four other people sustained injuries.

Another resident, youth leader Ishaya Dawa, said the attackers stormed the community close to midnight and opened fire on residents. He said some victims were killed and several bodies were taken to a mortuary.

“The victims are women, children and the elderly,” Dawa said, adding that the attackers set houses on fire before fleeing the community.

Dawa also said security personnel arrived in the village on Monday morning, several hours after the attack. The Kaduna State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Mansur Hassan, said it would provide details on the incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident comes amid continued attacks by armed groups and other criminal elements in parts of northwestern and north-central Nigeria, where communities have faced repeated violence.
