Real Madrid is battling another groin injury. Brazilian defender Éder Militão has suffered an injury, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Los Blancos said that medical tests revealed a “muscle injury” in Militão’s groin, but did not specify how long he would be sidelined.
The centre-back felt a sudden, sharp pain in the 58th minute of Tuesday’s 1-1 friendly draw between Brazil and Tunisia in Lille, immediately alerting the bench before being taken off.
Although the club remains tight-lipped, Spanish media reports suggest Militão could be sidelined for around two weeks. If the reports are confirmed, the 26-year-old will miss Sunday’s La Liga match against Elche, next weekend’s away match against Girona, and the Champions League match against Olympiacos.
The injury comes at a difficult time for Real Madrid, which already has a demanding schedule and cannot afford any more absences in defense.
Real Madrid fans are now hoping for a quick return to form, as Militão’s dominant defensive presence remains crucial in the title race and in European competition.
