The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the deaths of two people in an armed robbery late at night on the Gadar Bala axis of the Doma-Yelwa Highway. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday when a 911 truck carrying goods and passengers from Rukubi City was ambushed by suspected armed robbers.
According to security sources, the attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing the driver, Yusuf Dogara, a resident of the Madawaki neighborhood in Doma, and a passenger, Nano Gideon, from Akaba Agyaragu, in the Obi Local Government Area. The sudden attack caused panic among the passengers, some of whom were injured.
Police patrol teams, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, were quickly deployed to the scene. The victims were rushed to Doma General Hospital, where medical staff confirmed their deaths upon arrival. His remains were taken to the hospital morgue, while the injured passengers are receiving treatment and are reportedly in good health.
Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the attackers. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies to prevent further incidents on this vulnerable route.
