The Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Engr. Sunny Oche, has expressed deep satisfaction and relief over the successful release and safe return of the eight persons recently kidnapped within the Local Government Area. The Chairman described the development as a clear testament to dedication, professionalism, and effective collaboration among security stakeholders.
Engr. Oche specifically commended the Nigerian Army, Benue State Civil Protection Guard (Anyam Nyor) as well as the local vigilante groups, for their courage, discipline, and commitment to duty, noting that the victims regained their freedom in two phases as a result of carefully coordinated and professional operational procedures. He emphasized that the safe reunion of the victims with their families, without loss of life, underscores the growing effectiveness of the Local Government’s security architecture. The Chairman reiterated his administration’s firm stance against insecurity, declaring a total and sustained war against criminal elements, and disclosed that enhanced 24-hour surveillance has been activated to ensure a peaceful and safe Christmas celebration across the Local Government Area.
While acknowledging that the victims may have endured traumatic experiences during their captivity, the Chairman expressed gratitude to God for their safe return, describing their freedom as a moment of collective relief and thanksgiving. He joined the families of the victims in celebrating their reunion and reaffirmed the Local Government’s resolve to continue prioritizing the protection of lives and property as its foremost responsibility.
Engr. Oche issued a strong warning to individuals involved in kidnapping and other criminal activities to desist immediately and embrace lawful and productive ventures, stressing that criminality has no future and that the law would take its full course against offenders. As Chief Security Officer of the Local Government, he pledged unwavering support for security agencies and vigilance groups, vowing that Ado Local Government would be cleansed of all criminal elements. He further praised the resilience, patience, and orderly conduct of the victims’ families throughout the ordeal, noting that their cooperation and trust in constituted authority significantly contributed to the successful outcome. The Chairman called for sustained vigilance and stronger collaboration among communities, traditional institutions, vigilante groups, and formal security agencies to consolidate peace and prevent future occurrences.
Meanwhile, families of the victims and well-wishers have expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman and the Ukwonyo Traditional Council for their leadership and timely interventions. They also commended the security operatives whose bravery and persistence forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee.
