The Chairman of Ado Local Government, Engr. Sunny Oche, has received the first batch of solar panels for the commencement of the much-anticipated solarisation of streets across the ten wards of the Local Government Area. The arrival of the solar panels marks a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to improving public infrastructure, enhancing security, and promoting sustainable development. The Chairman assured residents that there would be no delay in deploying the panels to the designated locations, as arrangements have already been concluded to ensure their swift installation.

The solarisation project, which forms part of the administration’s “Operation Light Up Ado” initiative, is designed to provide reliable and environmentally friendly street lighting in communities across the Local Government. The initiative is expected to transform public spaces, improve visibility at night, and create a safer environment for residents, businesses, commuters, and visitors. By harnessing renewable energy, the project will also reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources while ensuring uninterrupted lighting in strategic locations.

Street lighting plays a critical role in community development. Beyond illuminating roads and public places, it serves as a powerful tool for crime prevention by discouraging criminal activities and enhancing surveillance within communities. Well-lit streets also support economic activities, allowing traders and small business owners to operate for longer hours while improving the overall quality of life for residents. The solarisation of the ten wards will therefore contribute significantly to security, economic growth, and social well-being across Ado Local Government.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Chairman had earlier announced plans to solarise the Local Government as part of its broader development agenda. With the arrival of the first batch of solar panels, that vision is now becoming a reality. The commencement of the project underscores Engr. Sunny Oche’s determination to deliver on his promises and bring meaningful development to the people of Ado. Residents have expressed optimism that the initiative will usher in a new era of progress, safety, and prosperity throughout the Local Government Area.
