Nigerian billionaire industrialist and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a massive financial incentive to motivate the Super Eagles as they advance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Following the team’s impressive 2-0 quarter-final victory over Algeria, Rabiu took to social media to congratulate the squad and unveil a multi-tiered reward package that could total over $1.5 million. This Abdul Samad Rabiu Super Eagles pledge is designed to boost morale as the team approaches the critical stages of the tournament.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, January 10, 2026, Rabiu expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating they had “lifted the spirit of the nation.” To further encourage the players ahead of their crucial semi-final clash, he pledged a sum of $500,000 to the team if they secure a victory. Additionally, he promised a bonus of $50,000 for every goal scored during the match. The stakes get even higher should the Super Eagles proceed to the final. Rabiu announced a grand prize of $1,000,000 if the team wins the AFCON trophy, accompanied by a $100,000 reward for each goal scored in the final match.
The pledge comes on the heels of a dominant performance by the Super Eagles against the Desert Foxes of Algeria at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. Goals from Victor Osimhen in the 47th minute and Akor Adams in the 57th minute secured a comfortable 2-0 win, booking Nigeria’s spot in the last four. With this financial boost, the Super Eagles are set to face tournament hosts Morocco in what promises to be an electrifying semi-final encounter on Wednesday, January 14. The BUA Chairman’s gesture is expected to serve as a significant morale booster as the team seeks to conquer the host nation and inch closer to a fourth continental title. Rabiu concluded his message by wishing the team continued success as they carry Nigeria forward.
