Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali emerged as the hero as Nigeria defeated Egypt on penalties to claim the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The third-place playoff ended goalless after regulation time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. Nigeria prevailed 4–2, with Nwabali producing decisive saves to secure victory for the Super Eagles.
