The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the abduction and alleged ritual killing of a six-year-old girl, in a case linked to an Enugu-based suspected native doctor.

The suspect, identified as Friday Akonobi, was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu following credible intelligence. Police authorities said the arrest was connected to the disappearance and death of Ozioma Nwankwo, who was abducted from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State in May 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to carrying out the crime alongside four other accomplices who are currently on the run.
